Dunwoody Christian School: Athletic Logo Design
Summary
When talking with Dresden about their brand, Dunwoody Christian School had a mission from the start. They wanted their brand to represent a strong, mature, respectable private school that could hang with the fierce competition of other schools within the Atlanta area. However, they also felt they had qualities that differentiated them from the rest. With a strong mission and the desire to excel in all areas including athletics, they knew they wanted a lion to represent them as a mascot.

Because of their Christian background, this concept of a lion was very important to DCS. It had an immediate and clear association with Jesus who is compared in Biblical texts to a lion - gentle and loving but also fierce and powerful. To capture the intention behind their choice of a lion, we had to design a figure that walks the fine line of a strength that doesn’t lack compassion. An Aslan-esque personality.
Along with the mascot itself, we needed to create a strong monogram to accompany it, carrying the D from Dunwoody into this secondary mark so the mark wouldn’t lose its association with the school’s overarching name and brand.
